Heysen Trail – end to end

Committing to the full length of the Heysen Trail is a serious undertaking in time, money and effort. It costs roughly $3,000+ (fuel, accommodation, park fees, tour operators etc.) and requires team commitment to make it workable, not withstanding the overall logistics to make it happen. Parachilna to the Pound (Parachilna Gorge to Wilpena Pound)

(4 night pack walk): 63km of the Heysen trail from Parachilna Gorge trailhead to Wilpena Pound, then 3 nights car camping at Wilpena pound inlcuding 2 day walk: St Marys Peak and Rawnsley Bluff lookout.

NZ – Mt Aspiring Circuit

This outlines an 8 day walk in the NZ Mt Aspiring national park. This walk is well marked , popular and there are both huts and camping facilities. Mawson Plateau – From the North

This describes a multiday walk in Mawson Plateau approaching the Plateau from the North via Mt Freeling Station and Mt Fitton Station ruin. Once on the Plateau a choice can be made between one or more base camps and day walks to explore the area.

Note: an alternative route onto the Southern Plateau is via Paralana Hot Springs. Not described here.
